Synopsis
A bittersweet love story. Clare is an offbeat, quirky girl men call "funny face". Her lover, Joshua, is an up-and-coming young film director, an assured and unfathomable man. Clucking over their affair is the indomitable Mrs Fox. Together they create a triangle in this tale.

I found the writing style of this book very understated, no matter what happened in the storyline it seemed that the author and her creations take everything in their stride making this feel quite a gentle tale. I often found myself irritated by Susan and the way she allowed men to take her for granted, although I felt that the book ended with her having taken on the opposite role in her marriage.
