Anything by this author is a treat to read, but this one has gotten several awards in particular, including ALA booklist. They're well deserved. Empathetic characters and a well-researched plot make this book enjoyable.
I just postal released this book to Guinneth!
Thanks so much, fireyfairy! The book arrived safe & sound. I'm *really* looking forward to this, as I thought Speak was excellent.
A well-researched but still empathetic and interesting glimpse at one girl's experience of the yellow fever epidemic that struck Philadelphia in the summer of 1793. I knew nothing about this bit of history and I was happy to see the author's inclusion of notes at the end of the story. I found Mattie's journey and growth over the course of the book particularly satisfying.
I'll be sending this off to cats-eye as part of a reverse wishlist relay. Enjoy!
