We Are All Welcome Here : A Novel

This is a very happy sad book. It involves a very young girl and her mom that had polio when she was a young woman and lives on a respirator. It is the way the woman tried to raise her daughter even though she can't lift a finger or walk. It talks about the racial tension in the 60's and living in Tupelo, Mississippi I am sure it would have worse than where I lived in Oregon. This book did remind me a bit of the series she wrote with the girl experiencing some of the same things that the girl in those books experienced, but all in all I don't think it was a repeat, just similar as I am sure things would be for that age group.
I read this book in a three day period, but wanted to savor it a bit more than just read through it quickly. The ending had me sobbing as it was such a happy sad book. If you enjoy reading about young girls and their growth into womanhood this would be the book to read. I have never been disappointed in a book that I have read by Elizabeth Berg.
