Amazon.de synopsis:

Virtually unnoticed, JoLayne Lucks stops by the Grab'n'Go to play the same numbers she's played every week for five years. Each lotto number marking the age at which she dumped a tiresome lover. She doesn't know it yet, but the discarded men in JoLayne's life have finally amounted to something.

Journal Entry 6 by janey-canuck from Guelph, Ontario Canada on Friday, June 9, 2006
I finished this off during lunch today - I quite enjoyed it. It was a very similar style to Elmore Leonard, which I like. There are a lot of characters to keep straight, but it didn't feel like there were too many to keep track of. There were some highly entertaining moments, along with a lot of totally unlikely situations. The whole premise of the book is quite interesting and I really loved the way the book ended (specifically - the blue envelope - that really shouldn't give anything away). It was also a quick read - I went through it fairly quickly considering it is almost 500 pages. Very good summer reading - I think I read most of it in an attempt to put off cleaning my apartment :)

Overall - great summer read, rather entertaining and I'll probably be picking up more of Hiaasen's books soon :)

I've already got breeze144's address, I'll probably get this to the post office on Monday at the latest.
ETA: book mailed off today.

Journal Entry 8 by Breeze144 from Ajax, Ontario Canada on Tuesday, July 25, 2006
I have finally finished reading this! I don't usually take more than a month to send out a ring, but I guess life was busier than usual here!

Hiaasen has such a great sense of humour and irony. I love the characters he creates - such oddballs that it makes me think he must base them on someone he knows, because you just can't make that stuff up! Although I enjoyed this, I have to say it wasn'tmy favorite of the 2 or 3 of his that I've read...but I still gave it a 7 because it is okay.

Will send this along tomorrow!

This may take a little while since I have four bookrings in front of this one. When it rains it pours, right?

Finally finished! Carl justs keeps cracking me up! I was first introduced to him with "Skinny Dip" which was riotously funny. "Lucky You" had some dark moments to it, but the hilarious cast of characters from Grange, FL gave some balance to the darker moments. I already have DoveiLibri's mailing address, will drop it in the post tomorrow!

Bad Mousie! This arrived the middle of last week and I forgot to journal it. For shame! At least I didn't forget to read it as well :)

This wasn't my favorite Hiaasen novel, but it was still an amusing read. Perhaps I found the villains a little too realistic. Anyway--enjoyable, nonetheless. I'm off to PM sbutler25 for a mailing address and hope to have this moving again by sometime next week.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me!

Mailing to sbutler25 in Australia today.

Journal Entry 17 by sbutler25 from Kincumber, New South Wales Australia on Sunday, March 11, 2007
Received this through the bookring about a week ago. Couldn't wait to read it, but it bitterly disappointed me. I have read other Hiaasen books but just couldn't get into this one. Found it hard to pick up (which is odd for a book lover) so I just had to bite the bullet and decide that I am going to pass it onto the next in the bookring..... Thank you for including me in your bookring :)

This was the second Carl Hiassen book I've read now, sorry I started reading it straight away and forgot I had yet to journal.

It was an ok read, it didn't keep me enthralled I'm afraid. Anyhoo I've finished it and have pm'd the next person on the list.

Thanks for letting me take part.

I''m sorry for not journalling this book sooner. I finished reading it in May and then passed it on to a colleague (with Oisec''s approval) for her to read. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and as I was reading it I couldn''t help but picture the Top Gear episode where the boys were challenged to go across the southern States of America. (Hopefully the BCers in the UK will know what I mean).

My colleague also enjoyed the book, so determined was she to finish it and return it to me that she was reading it whilst preparing the family meal on Wednesday evening.

Returning to Oisec.
