The Lost Worl was a good book, but it did not compare with Jurassic Park. Michael Crichton did a good job with this book but there was not much suspense and action until about half way through the book. Finding the boat at the end seemed like Crichton was just tryin to end the novel fast. The action was very good and I can't wait to read another one of his works.

let me just say that this book was entirely different from the movie.....FOR THE BETTER! i thought the book was a lot better. the story was more interesting the way in which as they observed the dinosaurs they gave you some cool interesting information about them. i also thought it had more action and invloved more dinosaurs than the movie. i especially enjoyed the dinosaur that could change colors like a chameleon. the movie stunk, the book rocked so i would recommend it.

I thought this book was absolutely awesome. I was so into it, and just couldnt put it down. I like how Michael Crichton talks about extinction, and has this as his main theme. Malcolm goes into so much detail about this, that it seems like it is very real. Crichton developes his characters very well, and gives them all a different, interesting personality. He always makes his books action packed, and fun to read.
Michael always has meaning for different parts or little things in the book. If in one point in a story, something very small happens, it has meaning. Throughout the story all these little pieces begin to come together, and make the story suprising, and not dull and have you already know what is going to happen.
I also think Crichton does an excellent job of keeping the reader interested in the book, because he will be talking about a very important part of the story, then just stop the sentence, and break in with some action. This kept me from putting the book down.
Overall, i think this book was very, very good, and i rated it a 10. I also think i liked it because of the fact there were dinosaurs in it, and i love reading about them. Michael did a great job with this book, and you should definitely read this one.

The Lost World is quite different from its cinematic son..... or should we say bastard son. I believe it to be one of the worst screen adaptations of all time. Dinosaurs in San Diego? Come on.... That strayed away from the book a little too far.

With that out of the way, I will say that the book was quite enjoyable and much better than the movie (more believable too). It was a little boring for the 140+ pages of exploring the island, but once the action picked up, it was not too bad. Crichton is a very gifted author with the ability to paint pictures in one's head. One of the passages I found most graphic and descriptive was during Dodgson's death: "He saw the baby eating the flesh of his own face. His blood was dripping down its jaws." (p. 423). MMM tastey. I could seriously see it in my head though. In fact, I could almost feel the baby dinosaurs pecking at me as well. It is this ability to create an image for the reader that makes the book enjoyable. If you enjoy man vs. monster vs. greedy men type of stories, this is your book.
