Discard from the Carteret Community College Library. Paperback w/library markings.

According to the front cover, it is "[t]he classic autobiography of growing up poor and black in the rural south." I'm a lover of autobiography - and free books - so I thought I'd give it a try.

I've tried twice now, actually, and I'm just not getting anywhere. It's well written, but it feels like ground I've covered before. With a mountain of books waiting to be read, I'm just not up to sticking with it.

I'll add it to my pile of available books to release, and if my progress there is any indication, I may have another chance to read it yet...

ThanksMom has put out a call for books to release for a Black History Month display at the park where she works. This book seemed like a perfect fit! I've packed it up and will put it in the mail tomorrow.

Good luck with your release, ThanksMom!

I remember reading this in school. Copyright 1968. Am I dating myself???

Thank you for helping me with my display and give-away for Black History Month. I am making a display about finding "hidden" stories of blacks both in history and in everyday life. This will be at the National Park site where I work. I hope the visitors enjoy the display and take the book they admire most. If, perhaps due to weather, we don't have many visitors in February we do have a special school program in April (One Community- One Book- for students) and I will attempt to make bookcrossing books available then as well. (Our theme for April is the Underground Railroad)

Released 16 yrs ago (1/31/2008 UTC) at Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania USA
