This moving story reveals the loves, losses and sacrifices of three generations of Swedish women . . .grandmother, mother and daughter. As I read about the traits passed from one generation to another it made me sit back and look at my own heritage and the ties that bind.

A great read. This book was awarded Author of the Year and Book of the Year in 1994 and was one of the top ten world bestsellers in 1997.

This book was written in a convoluted style. The characters were real enough, and their experiences depicted daily life. However, I'm not into historical fiction.
