Struggled at first to get into this but gradually was seduced into Robin Hobb's world. Not excessive scene setting, just enough back story to make sense of what's going on. Basic story is of a boy born on the wrong side of the sheets with a royal father who is taken into the royal household and has his life turned upside down with dangerous missions to undertake...
