Thank you so much! I rec'd this book in the mail today! It's been on my Wish List from before I even KNEW about Book Crossing! It's going on a really big "To Be Read" mountain, so I'm not sure when you will hear from Brick Lane again. Added Oct 18, 2006: This is an interesting exploration of gender roles and expectations across cultures and geography. I hope it stays this interesting throughout! So far, I am enjoying the character development of all of the characters: the central character Nazneen, as well as all of the people that interact within her realm of influence.

Well, there's no better way to say it, I was completely underwhelmed by this book. I think the problem is that so many people told me how great it was and the reviews I read were so glowing that there was no way it could measure up. I need to just quit reading reviews! I enjoy reading about immigrant experiences though and I'm glad to have read this one.
