I bought this a couple of years ago at Munich airport, and read it on the plane.
I finished re-reading it yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it again the second time. I love the character Death, and his granddaughter Susan the teacher, who got this essay from one of her students: A man with all bones came to talk to us he was not scarey at all, he had a big white hors. We pated the hors. He had a sighyve. He told us interesting things and to be careful when crosing the road.
It's been years since I read any of the early Pratchetts (this says it's 26th in the series), but I was surprised about 4-5 years ago at how much I *loved* Feet of Clay. I wonder if Pratchett is maturing as a writer - giving us better plots and more complex characters, in addition to the usual slew of jokes and clevernesses (favorite school dessert: stodge and custard). Or maybe I'm misremembering and slightly maligning the early books?

Took it home from Kesäpäivät. Thanks!
Quite a good DiscWorld book again from Pratchett. Death and Susan are among my favourite characters and their parts were the best in this book, too. The whole Monks of History and Lobsang thing was only half that interesting, although they had their moments. Especially the ways they battled the Auditors were funny.
The problem with Pratchett is that it takes him some 50 pages before the plot really gets going. There are always a bunch of small bits in the beginning that don't make sense before you have read the whole book, and by then you have already forgotten half of them, because the books are quite long. Or perhaps this is more my problem, but I still think most of Pratchett's books are too long. Anyway, I'm going to try to read the whole DiscWorld series...
