Shopaholic Ties the Knot

Hurrah, I finally got my hands on the 3rd book in the Shopaholic series! These books are silly but can be such fun. I'm looking forward to see how Becky's wedding goes!
From Amazon.com:
Another entertaining entry in Kinsella's unabashedly fluffy Shopaholic series. Life could not get any better for Becky Bloomwood, the irresistibly daft heroine of Confessions of a Shopaholic (2001) and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan (2002). She has managed to parlay her personal and professional passions into a dream job as a personal shopper at Barney's, and she and her wildly successful boyfriend live a life of relative peace and prosperity in Manhattan's West Village. Well, at least they would if Becky could manage to curb her extravagant spending habits a bit. When Luke finally pops the question, a euphoric Becky manages to entangle herself in another rather sticky predicament. Becky's cozy mum back in England has planned a homespun wedding for her only daughter on the same day for which Luke's frosty society mother has booked the Plaza in New York. Two weddings on the same day, what's a committed consumer to do? Chock-full of the charming antics and asides that made the first two installments hilarious best-sellers.

I think this is my favourite of the series so far! While the shopping addiction is still well and alive in Miss Becky Bloomwood, it isn't that annoying this time round as there are much bigger issues to worry about than the shopping expenses! Becky can't make up her mind between the two weddings (on two different continents no less!), and just when you think she has things sorted out, it all falls apart again. It was quite morbidly fascinating to see things just escalate out of control in the book, it's like, you just want to scream - Becky, DON'T DO IT! I actually really enjoyed the ending - totally unbelievable, of course, but so fantastic and so sweet. It almost brought a tear to my eye, hee hee. Yes, I know, I'm a total sap! *grin* This was a great fluffy read and I enjoyed it completely. Now on to the 4th book in the series!

Accepted on bookrelay, received at meetup and headed for Mt TBR! I've not read much 'chick lit' before and have decided to broaden my horizons. I'm a little dubious, but open to new experiences...
As I suspected... I don't think 'chick lit' is for me! I tried, though leeny... really I tried!
I found myself increasingly mortified at the predicaments Becky kept getting herself into - that woman needs assertiveness training! And, although I kept reminding myself that this is a light novel, just couldn't get past my embarrassment at her actions!
It's OK though - I've promised this one to another bookcrosser who will probably appreciate it MUCH more than I do!

Arrived in my mailbox today. Wow -- I'd forgotten this was coming (that tends to happen with surface/sea mail, I think! LOL!). Thanks, lmn60!
Realism sets in....I know I won't get to this, so I'm sending it out as a RABCK (with several of the other Shopaholic books) to emmejo. Enjoy! :')
I got this book in the mail today. Will post another JE after I read it.
Thanks indygo88!
Thanks indygo88!
Same flaws as the rest of the books: Becky is weak-willed and seems a bit dim. The writing is witty and interesting and the plot is not half bad, but Becky is really annoying!
Yet this series is strangely compelling...
