FL 'They said I was a drug addict.'

Here's Rachel Walsh, twenty-seven and the miserable owner of size 8 feet. She has regular congress with Luke Costello, a man who wears his leather trousers tight. And she's fond - some might say too fond - of recreational drugs.

Until everything goes pear-shaped and she finds herself being frog-marched to the Clositers - Dublin's answer to the Betty Ford Clinic. She's outraged. Surely she's not thin enough to be an addict? But on the bright side, she's heard that rehab places are wall-to-wall jacuzzi's, gymnasiums and rock stars going tepd turkey. Besides, it's about time she had a little holiday.

Rachel isn't expecting plump, middle-aged men in brown jumpers, and more group therapy than you can shake a stick at. Worse still, she seems to be expected to join in with it. Who cares for introspection when the view is damaged and broken?

Heartsick and Luke-sick, she seeks redemption in the shape of Chris, a Man with a Past. A man who might be more trouble than he's worth.

I really enjoyed this book! I also think it is a crime that Marian Keyes' books are put in such hideous girly 'chic lit' covers when they are certainly not that.

I really enjoyed listening to Rachel's story. She is taken to an addiction clinic where she has to fight her demons and finally her denial, about being a drug addict. The story is both compassionate and humourous and deals with a fairly heavy subject with great ease. I loved it and I can't wait to read more Marian Keyes' books.

Thanks so much for this RABCK. It was a lovely surprise. I've only recently discovered Marian Keyes. Please let me know if you see any books on my shelf you'd like.

Good read. The rehab centre seemed very claustrophobic, it was funny that she expected a health club. Sometimes Rachel's behaviour was annoying but I think that was the point.

Thanks for sharing chas04.
