I thought this was a funny story when I saw the trailers on TV years ago. I didn't watch the movie and reading the book now, well, it's not that funny. Rather, it's just Mr Krank who tried to save some money by trying to go on a cruise during Christmas so he doesn't have to spend so much on the tree, decorations, lights, cards and party and every other Christmas related things.
Unfortunately, he didn't expect his entire neighbourhood to get angry with his decision, worse, he didn't expect his daughter to come home at the last minute to celebrate Christmas.

Predictable ending though, because in the end, his neighbours are the ones who came through for him.

Book Description:

Imagine a year without the chaos and frenzy that has become part of our holiday tradition - this is just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they plan to skip Christmas and embark on a Caribbean cruise instead. But as this weary couple is about to discover - it's not as easy as that.

My Review:

This was such a cute story! I can relate, as much as I love Christmas, sometimes, it seems like too much work. I usually have to remind myself to stop and enjoy rather than just rushing around like a crazy person the whole time.

Part of a lovely RABCK bookbox sent to me by princess-peapod while I am visiting family here in the Boston area.

This looks fun! I've seen the movie but never read the book. It will an enjoyable Christmas read, I think!
