One of my favourite food writers. This is my current bath book - hopefully it will stand up to future sharing!

I'm not done with this book but I had to make a post that I though Kernow8 would appriciate -- I was reading this book in the bath and accidentally got bubbles on it! I gasped in horror then remembered this was Kernow8's bath book. I have promised this to a friend when I am done -- she'll love it. I'll make a more review-type entry before I send it to her.

I finished this while at work yesterday -- appropriate to finish a book about food and memories on Thanksgiving. I enjoyed this very, very much. They say that smell is the sense most directly related to memory and I have no doubt that this is true. Since smell and taste are so closely related, a book full of memoires attached to food makes all the sense in the world to me. It made me stop and wonder how many of my favorite foods are my favorites simply because of the memories they evoke. A lot of the foods I wasn't familiar with as they are British so there has been a bit of poking around on the internet to see just what the author was talking about. Even for those I haven't looked up yet, though, nothing is lost. I found it didn't matter if I wasn't familiar with the dish -- the memoiries stand on their own just fine. Definitely an enjoyable read.

A friend here in town has expressed interest in this book as well. I'll loan it to him to read before mailing it to Virginia to an old college friend. Thanks so much for sharing this with me, Kernow8!
