Vanished

For five years, a shy, backward man travels the country with a wild young woman and a kidnapped child, living by stealing and by selling stolen goods. Helpless Aubrey Wallace does not have the courage or the know-how to escape the situation in which he is trapped with the sexually abused Dotty Johnson, who has brutally killed her father and stolen 18-month-old Canny. Aubrey, attached to Canny, shows her as much love and care as he can, letting Dotty call all the shots. The tragedy in this bizarre, intriguing first novel is a child's exposure, in her most formative and impressionable years, to a life of violence. But for Canny there is hope: she could be returned to her natural parents. For Aubrey and Dotty, there is no hope left.
Turns out I read this book last year, on a flight home for Christmas. I enjoyed this book. It kept me entertained on the flight, well, part of it. Its a long flight and I'm a fast reader. It wasn't what I was expecting. Don't want to say more that will really give the book away.
Mailed this out to momx3lovesbooks yesterday. Hope you don't mind the surprise book!
What a wonderful suprise thegoaliegirl!! I didn't expect you to send this to me and I truely thank you! :)
Aubrey Wallace is the kind of man no one notices. Dotty Johnson is the kind of woman no one can ignore. One afternoon, they both disappear from the small Vermont town where they live. The next day, two hundred miles away, a toddler is snatched from her Massachusetts home. For the next 5 years, Aubrey, Dottie and the kidnapped child are trapped in a nomadic existence governed by their constant fear of discovery. It all has to end sometime.
Very easy to read book without a difficult storyline. I enjoyed it. I don't have much more to say then that.
