Currently reading so I can read "Reading Lolita in Tehran"

I tried to read this in order to better appreaciate "Reading Lolita in Teheran", but I couldn't get through it. While it's an compelling story in places with what was probably a ground-breaking theme, overall I just couldn't stay interested in it.
