NIGHT FIRES
Beautiful and damned, Simone de la Fer roamed the French nights as a vampire. A reluctant immortal, she thought she’d never again taste the bittersweet pleasures of mortal love—until she met an enigmatic human spy she found impossible to resist. Haunted by his own violent past, Michael Corday arrived from England on a secret mission. On a starlit highway he found his life changed forever by a creature of the night unlike any he’d ever encountered. Unable to deny their destiny, they traveled together through the
Parisian underworld on a dangerously erotic journey to right a terrible wrong—even as they were stalked by a merciless hunter intent on destroying them. For theirs was a passion so taboo, it had been forbidden by human and vampire alike; so sinful, it could only be paradise. And they would risk eternal damnation to taste it just once again...

This should be interesting, a bit of a change from her regency romances.
What a load of rubbish, but great escapism. I'm still not quite sure how Simone actually became a vampire. I read a lot of this whilst having a lovely soak in the bath. Thanks, woosang. I'll keep it until I have a whole bag of vampire books to give back to you, unless you want it sooner.
Posted to CheriePie today.
Received today. I've got a few rings and swap books to finish ahead of it, but will get to it shortly. And then return it home to woosang, unless you've found others here in the US who also want to read it?
I went into this book not sure how I'd feel about it, thinking it might have too much romance for my liking, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story takes place during the French revolution, and tells the story of Simone, secretly a vampire outlaw known as LaFlamme, and Michael Corday, an English spy sent to France to track down and eliminate the man funding the Revolution and threatening to bring it to other countries. Simone and Michael's relationship begins as one of convenience, for they are each to help the other in their mission. But soon, Simone feels compelled to reveal her true nature to Michael, and his own feelings of despair about his life begin to dissipate. This book held my interest right up until the very end! :)
Yvonne, I've got at least 2 more TBR books here to to you, so I'll hang on to this for a little while and send either one or both of those other books along with this when I return it. Unless you're anxious to get this back now... but I figured a few more weeks wouldn't make much difference in the overall scheme of things. LMK

With Yvonne's okay, I sent this off to Joanne (NeedSun) since she wanted to read it too. Mailed on 19-Oct-2006 via International Air Mail.
Feast or famine again. There were five packages in the mail yesterday. My post office must hoard them. This book will be added to my pile of bookrings. which I seem to be managing even though it is huge.
My thanks to Cherie and Woosang for sharing and for sending this book to me.

This book was definitely more romance than horror with quite a unique take on vampires. I haven't read a historical romance for some time and thoroughly enjoyed this one.
I will be returning it to woosang as soon as I get the address and mailing instructions.
Thanks again for sharing.

Picked up from the table of temptation at the convention - looks like a good read!
Finally got a chance to read this - it wasn't one of my favourite reads, but I got through it OK and would be happy to read the next one. Not sure that I'm ready for vampires and historical romance all at once - it was too little of each so that it was vaguely unsatisfying.
Still, thanks for the opportunity to read it :)
