I've guessed at the category, not having read the book.
"Meet sixteen-year-old Susannah. She's a mediator - a contact person for just about anyone who dies leaving things...well, untidy."

Looked interesting, so snaffled from The Clarence at lunchtime.
-----------------------
'You're dead. You don't belong here.' Having travelled just about a gazillion miles from New York to California, the last thing Susannah expected was to see a ghost sitting in her nice new bedroom. Well maybe she did, except that she kinda hoped that things would be different here, you know, a new start and everything...Life hasn't been all that easy for Susannah. That's because Susannah talks to the dead - well they talk to her actually. Susannah's a mediator - a contact person for just about anybody who croaks, leaving things.. well, untidy. At least Jesse, the smoldering latino ghost who hangs out in her room isn't dangerous. Unlike Heather, who has taken up residence at Susannah's new high school, and is very very angry..

An enjoyable teen fantasy, which made for a quick but very satisfying read. Another author to add to The List!
Offered as one of my availables to the BCUK list and has several people interested, so it's off on a mini-ray. (Forum post)

Received today, and next up! Thanks :)
I really enjoyed this book -- I thought Caroll's "twist" on psychic abilities (that of being a Mediator, of interacting with spirits) was quite unique. It came across as a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed, only without the vampires and demons. Highly enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to finding other books in this series.

Got this today...I have some others in front of it, but this might sneak in as it's a little book!
Quick, fun read. I like the books that Meg Cabot writes for adults..( I'm a bit confused as to whether Jenny Carroll is a pseudonym or co-writer)..so this was interesting fo rme..I'll keep an eye out for the others in the series. THanks for sharing..I've pm'd for Lutrus' address.
Waiting for me on the doormat when I got home today, thanks Sunlightbub. I have a couple of others I must read first then on to this.
Nice easy read, a promising beginning to the series and one I'll be following up. Some similarities to Buffy but enough differences to make it one to watch.

Arrived today, many thanks. (For the choccie buttons too!!)
I flew through this in a couple of days. A great book for teens or slightly younger. Really good premise.
I'm not sure whether Suze would have fitted in THAT quickly in real life, she seemed to be Miss Popularity just a bit too quickly.
I will certainly read another by this author.
Thanks for sharing!

I'm really impressed that this reached Australia from the UK in 6 days! Thanks so much for the Skittles as well - the parcel was opened by Australian customs but they sent it on, with a note saying that nothing inside was dangerous...
The book was a good read. While waiting for this one I've actually read the 3 that follow it in the series, but it was interesting to get Susannah's first impressions of California. It's also interesting to follow her apparently jinxed love life! The characters are well introduced and I also liked Suze's comments about her step-family, and giving them a chance.
Who would like to read it next? I've got the second one in the series as well, for those who are interested.
Passed on at the Melbourne BXers meetup.
