Promises (Love Inspired)

Not sure where I got this book, but since I am totally hooked on Love Inspired books it is definitely one I plan to read. That is when I get to it in my Mountian of TBR.
I rarely rate books below average and I have NEVER rated a Love Inspired book even at average - they are always sbove average to great.
This book didn't do anything for me! I found it gushy on both the religious emphasis and on the couple affection. It just wasn't written in the style that I have grown accustomed to with the LI books.
Maybe because it was one of the very early books - within the first 10 of the Love Inspired books, maybe because it was written by an author who wrote non-fiction and highly religious stuff prior to this book - I don't know, whatever it was, I found myself repeatedly wondering why I stuck with it - which I did until the end.
There were so many twists and turns in it you wondered it it had an end and even when you did get to the end, it was anticlimatic (at least for me).
The story went like so....
A female country star meets a young upcoming male county (and gospel) singer and they connect immediately. The book goes on to depict tragedy after tragedy that they have to deal with - off the top of my head there were at least 4 or 5 different tragedies that these two went through. In my opinion too many to make the book enjoyable.
So there you have it - I really didn't like it, even though I LOVE Love Inspired books.
I probably wouldn't have finished it if it wasn't part of a multi-book trade with Snowy, but since I am sending it off, I wanted to at least finish it before it left.
It will go out in the next couple of weeks with 8 ohters as part of the trade.
Hope she likes it better than I did.
