This has been a quick read, and I've not been able to put it down all day. Started this morning while in the bath, I have two rings here, but didn't want to chance dropping them in the bath, so I started this one.

Natalie has been dumped by her boyfriend of 6 or 7 years. Her long term friend, Tom suggests he takes her mind of her emotions by the alphabet weekends. What starts out as two friends spending time together over the weekend, each trying to out do the other on the event, forms into something much deeper.

Added to that, the upheavals of the friends and family of Natalie and Tom, the storyline develops, into what I think is the best of Elizabeth Noble's books yet.

Journal Entry 6 by Sterile from Burnley, Lancashire United Kingdom on Wednesday, February 22, 2006
It has to be said that I really enjoyed this book! Some of the antics reminded me of my mad days of about 15 Years ago, and some of the book made me cry! so much for my tough outer. Armadillo - Crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. One bit in particular really had me laughing
...Was hanging from her arse swearing at Tom like a navvie. Yep, change the circumstances and the guy's name, and there's a definite ring to that one!!! I thought that perhaps the plot might have been biased toward 2 particular characters more when I felt that the other cast had more to say, but it does not spoil the book at all. Thanks for letting me read the book and I have pmed herrgirl to get details to send the book on it's journey.

RELEASE NOTES:

herrgirl asked me to defer postage, as she is on a very important social occasion this Weekend! Posted off today 2nd Class.

The anti-climax of the Monday morning after my daughter's wedding was swept away by the thump of this book on the mat (and a catalogue from the Book People- but that's another story!).

I've enjoyed Elizabeth Noble's other two books so look forward to this one. I'll start it when I've finished my current read.

Thanks for sending it on, sterile - and thanks for the chocolate!

I found this book an enjoyable easy read. The writer introduces each character section by section, which helps you to become acquainted with them quite easily. The relationships between people are well-observed and described with lots of humour, romance and plenty of passion.

Thanks for offering the chance to read it. I've already got purplerosebud's address so it will be off to her tomorrow.

Picked up today from the post office. I've enjoyed the author's previous novels and I can't wait to start reading her new book.

15 May 06: a good, relaxing read for a very crowded weekend. I liked the choices which were made for every letter (hmmm, maybe 'S' wasn't such a good idea:)) and it was difficult not to browse ahead to see the titles of the sub-chapters.
I was really sorry for Lucy, but I am glad that she understood in the end that something's got to change in her life.
I have Amber's address in my inbox, but I will pm her to make sure I have the right address.
Thank you again AnglersRest for organising this lovely bookring.

Journal Entry 18 by Amberkatze from Wien Bezirk 10 - Favoriten, Wien Austria on Tuesday, May 23, 2006
I just got back from my holidays and was wondering which of the thousands of books I brought back with me I should read first. However this arriving in the post this morning solved that problem because I always read rings first :)

I really hope I will like this book! I read the 'Reading Group' and enjoyed it but I didn't like the 'Tenko Club' very much. I am sure that this one will be better though and if the journals so far are anything to go by it will be a nice read.

Thank you AnglersRest for letting me take part in this ring and blaisezabini12 for sending this on to me!

Journal Entry 19 by Amberkatze from Wien Bezirk 10 - Favoriten, Wien Austria on Thursday, May 25, 2006
I finished the book last night and have to give it a thumbs up! After reading 'Tenko Club' and not really liking it much I was wondering if Mrs Noble could ever interest me again. However seeing as I liked 'The Reading Group' I knew she can be a good writer and she proved it with this book.

A great story although alot of it developed liked I thought it would. The alphabet kept me guessing though and some of them were good! I was trying to think up of my own as I went along and would like to try the game someday myself :)

I already have LindyLouMac's address so I will post this out to her next week. Thanks again to AnglersRest for letting me be part of this ring and if anyone hasn't read the 'Reading Group' by this author I have a ring running so just pm me :)

Journal Entry 20 by LindyLouMac from Tywyn, Wales United Kingdom on Wednesday, June 14, 2006
Arrived in the post yesterday with thanks to Amberkatze for sending on to me and to AnglersRest for letting me join the ring.
I really enjoyed Elizabeth Nobles first book The Reading Group and still waiting to read The Tenko Club, so very keen to read this one. Also I lived near Guildford for many years, always interesting to read local authors!

Journal Entry 21 by LindyLouMac from Tywyn, Wales United Kingdom on Wednesday, June 21, 2006
Maybe it was not such a good idea reading Elizabeth Noble' last two books back to back. Although I think this latest one is far better than The Tenko Club, it still does not compare well to The Reading Group. When I fist discovered this new author I thought she was going to be more than just another writer of the 'chick lit' genre! I also completely got the wrong idea from the title thinking Alphabet Weekends were going to be Amsterdam,Brussels,Cophenhagen...etc etc all the way to Zurich. OK they made it to Paris and Vegas (yes Vegas!!)
Having said all that I did enjoy it and will look out for her next book. Beware that is not the recently published The Friendship Test! Apparently this is just the American title for The Tenko Club??
Waiting to hear from the next person on the list and then I will send it on its way again.

Received this morning amidst millions of parcels (well, 4) for the Unconvention! Looks great and I just finished my previous ring last night, so I plan to take this into the garden on Monday, my day of rest...

Journal Entry 24 by LyzzyBee from Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Monday, July 3, 2006
This was great, as I imagined - and the perfect post-Unconvention read. I like the way Noble pins her plots onto a theme, in this case 26 weekends for the hero to persuade the heroine to give him a chance, each with an activity beginning with a letter of the alphabet. She handles the different people's internal monologues, men and women, well, and while some of the ends are tied up neatly, some are not.

Not a weighty or meaty book, but well written, plotted and characterised, and a good summer read.

I have pammykn's address so I will just PM to confirm it then send it on its way (when I have some more envelopes...)

Thanks for adding me to this one, Anglersrest - you might as well have done so automatically!
