Part memoir, part novel, this is a classic story of growing up as a Chinese American.
That would be me. Thanks xoddam.
Good, but not great. I really liked the exploration of first generation immigrants and their relationship with their parents which seemed very true to life (I'm not in that situation myself, but I know plenty who are), but I spent way too much time flipping around the book seeing who was connected to whom. And it would have been nice if some of them had been happy *sometimes*...
I've been recently enjoying "The Kitchen God's Wife" so another Amy Tan looked like a good thing.
I subsequently discovered I've already got one - and the same edition - on my to be read list. Be free little book
