What a strange book. The concept of a book on scent and odour is very original and cleverly done but there was something missing. The story follows orphan Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, a child born with no scent of his own but with an amazing sense of smell. He is a loner and people do not take to him. In the end he is sold to a tanner, where he discovers more about the world of scent as he is given more freedom. Eventually, he manages to get a place working for a perfumer where he can learn how to extract scent and store it.

I would reccommend it to read, but I couldn't help feeling a little disppointed with it.

Interesting, very interesting! A book driven by its senses, well plotted, but not often pleasant.
I will send it on when I have RDWirral's address.

21 April RDWirral asked to be skipped, and today I got it in the post to ecmwfinswe. Enjoy.
