Another "GoryDetails" special: this is a collection of poems about various fires in New York's history, including the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire and the draft riots during the Civil War. (It also has an entry about the bomber that crashed into the Empire State Building; I note this with a twinge, because it brings to mind more recent, indelible images of planes hitting buildings...) This would make an interesting companion piece to "Wisconsin Death Trip," comparing a timeline of urban tragedies with the rural ones.

Book was still there so I've reclaimed it - will find it another home.

Released on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at Starbuck's, 266 DW Highway in Nashua, New Hampshire USA.
I plan on releasing this at the scheduled Meetup ( http://bookcrossing.meetup.com/ ); I'll be at Starbuck's by 7, and will stay until at least 8. (If you haven't signed up you're welcome to stop by anyway. I'll be the one in the "Books. Cats. Life is good." T-shirt.)

Meetup was a bust, so I've reclaimed this one for later release.
Journal Entry 6 by GoryDetails at Caffe Bella Vita - 30 Charles St., Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts USA on Friday, February 14, 2003
Release planned for Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Beacon Hill - Charles Street - Bella Vita Caffe in Boston, Massachusetts USA.
I'm planning to go into town for Boskone, and I hope to stop by the Bella Vita and drop off a book or two there. Should be there around 11 am.
*** Later: third time's charmed? I left it at the cafe as planned, and enjoyed a to-die-for tiramisu while I was there. Hope this book finds its reader...

I found "New York On Fire," at my favorite BookCrossing zone, Bella Vita Caffe on Charles Street. The Bella Vita is always closed on Mondays, and stayed closed on Tuesday because of the blizzard, so I had a couple of days to pass by the windows and see the book awaiting capture. Now that I've brought it home, I'm looking forward to reading it.
Many thanks to GoryDetails for perservering in the release of this book!
