The first thing about this book is that it is dense. It contains plenty of information packed in tightly. It is well written and conveys the depth of information well. There were subjects that I knew quite well and they were described in a clear format.
Two features of the content that were previously unknown to me where the large volcanic timebomb that is Yellowstone and the fact that fossils are not nearly as prevalent as I had imagined.
One final observation; there are nearly 80 pages of notes at the back of the book that I found useless. There is still 574 pages of text and it takes quite a while to read.
