Millions of people travel on London's tube every day yet we usually only give our fellow passengers a cursory glance. From Green Park to Brixton, from Shepherd's Bush to Chancery Lane, everyday life is not nearly as mundane as we might think! At Notting Hill, the mysterious secretary, harbouring her secrets, travels to work; at Highbury and Islington Adam has a sudden change of heart; at Holborn a disastrous reunion is about to take place.

Cover art is different than that pictured.

I've been a Maeve Binchy fan for a long time. I didn't enjoy this as much as some of her other books, but it was a fine summer read. I think I prefer her usual style--lots of characters with some common thread linking them together--to this collection of short stories. (Although the train station thread links these in a similar manner, the characters do not relate to each other in any way).

By the way, I think this book was published in the U.S. as London Transports. This is a U.K. edition.

Not sure yet what I'll do with the book; for now it goes onto the available pile.

This book is off to jumpingin in Canada as part of my First Sentences Virtual Bookbox. The first sentence is "Amy watched six taxis avoid her and go deliberately towards other people."

The book arrived sometime last week while I was on vacation. I enjoy Maeve Binchy's books and I may have read this many years ago--I'm looking forward to reading it again.

Thanks, collectorkerri, for sending it!

If I have read this before, it was long enough ago that I didn't remember the stories in detail. There are many stories in this book, but they are different enough from each other that they don't get tedious. This was a nice relaxing read over the Christmas break.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

I forgot to journal this one after I read it. I love Maeve Binchy's books and I enjoyed these stories. However, I do prefer her novels because the story is longer, and I'm always wishing they could go on forever!

This book is being passed on to luckof, another Binchy fan who is interested in reading this. My sister starrdust will deliver it to her at their next meetup.
