I have to give this book 10/10. It has been enjoyed by my whole family, as were the following three book in this series about King Arthur and Merlin.
It's really Merlin's story rather than Arthur's and is excellent reading

I've been so busy with work lately and unable to even consider reading a novel (been haunting the postman where is my magazine subscription? I hate magazines but subscribed to one for the dire need of light reading)... so I managed a last minute schedule shuffle in scoring yesterday off, a heavy rain, cold fall day and in shutting off my phone after checkin in with Head office and my 2 stores and emails,I went back to bed, & spent the whole day with this novel, snuggled with my siamese and I couldn't put it down til it was finished! (small naps amid it).

The author writes so poetically and free flowing.. Thank you Pennina :) My soul so needed this book, I'm a huge fan of Merlin andthat particluar area of legend/history.
