Having enjoyed Nick Hornbys previous novels immensely, I was very excited when I first bought this book. However, I was in for a surprise. This novel is very different from his previous works in most respects. The tone is dark and caustic, the dialog humorous, but bitter - and the overall motif seems to be human frailties and depression.
I found it to be deeply moving and thought-provoking, but those of you who anticipate a typical Hornby-experience, may be in for a surprise.

There is no way I can explain how a book about four suicidal people can be uplifting, but it was. Enjoy.
