Book Description:

What next, Lord?

Torn about her future, gospel singer Rachel Duke had asked God to send some sort of sign to guide her on a new path. Enter Paul McCoy, a world-weary doctor who had found his way back home from strife-ridden Kosovo, but not back to his faith.

Paul enjoyed Rachel's music, but he wasn't receptive to the message or to the feelings she aroused in him. He knew it would take something greater than medical expertise or faith or even hope, to heal his jaded heart. It would take a miracle...something he never expected to find with Rachel.

WOW - This story goes much deeper than a basic romance and faith-conversion. Set in Appalachia, it deals with issues such as tending to the medical needs of the poor people living deep in the mountains, solving the issue of paracites in the drinking/bathing/swimming water, land mines in Kosovo, courageous rehabilitation of disabling injuries, and an overzelous manager manipulating the values of a family-oriented small-town gospel singer. I love Anna Schmidt's style of writing! The dialogues are very natural and realistic sounding, and the romance/love blossomed out of a deep friendship in which the characters challenged and brought out the best in each other. This book packs a powerful punch, and I was left with a peaceful feeling of spirituality and inspiration after turning the last page.

Received this book as part of a multibook trade with valentina1209 - Thanks for the trade :)

I love Love Inspired (LI) books and have an entire TBR shelf (plus some) devoted to them. This one along with the other 6 will get added to the top of the shelf as the shelf it totally packed with others - but I can't pass up a good LI book even when I have so many other LI as well as non-LI) books in my TBR.

Yes, I admit it, I am a bookaholic - who on this site isn't? LOL

Anyway, thanks valentina for the great trading expereince.

Valentina says it so well when she says this book goes beyond the basic romance and faith found in most of the LI books. I really can't add much more to what she has already said, other than reading it inspired me to "up the ante" on my altruistic acts.

Not sure exactly what that will entail since I am already in a profession that is altruistic in nature - teaching. Whatever it is, I am sure God will show it to me and I will feel the passion as the characters in this book did.

It was also refreshing to have a book where the main female character was outspoken and pushy - in a good way! So often it is the female character that is the nurturer and feelings person - this book, although having both Rachel and Paul take on parts of both roles as the nurturer as well as the take action person, really made Rachel the "prompt to action" sassy person. Some might have found that annoying, but I found it refreshing and I loved it when Paul used it back on her to prompt her out of her self pity.

Overall, one of the best LI books I have read!!!!

Kind of sad to be sending off an author autographed book as they are so rare, but in the spirit of sharing books, Valentina gave it up to me autographed and now I will be giving it up to Snowy - who based on her past BC history and her nature, I am sure will eventually give it up to someone else. That's just the nature of BC and most LI readers!

Will be holding this book for a couple of more weeks as part of a mulitple book trade with Snowy.
