The Undomestic Goddess
11 journalers for this copy...
I found this book at the local Salvation Army thrift shop. I had missed my bus and decided to walk to the bus terminal to catch my next one. Along my walk I pased the thrift shop and decided to check out the books.
The title of the book caught my eye, only later on did I realize that i had read other works by this author and I liked her, so it was a great find.
The rest of the day turned out rather nice too. I was on my way to my 8th time gift wrapping books in local bookstores to raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer that my husand and I are participating in this April in Washington, DC. We had our most successful gift wrap session that night to date. YIPPEE!
As for the book: I really enjoyed it. I did have a bit of a problem with the ending. It seemed just a bit abrupt.
I am making this book part of this ray: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/3181826
to replace the other copy that was lost.

RELEASE NOTES:
Received today. Thanks, PrettyPoodle for "reviving" this ray for us! This will be next on my reading list!
Ah, this was a refreshing one for me! I feel like I've been reading a lot of books lately with a very serious tone, so reading something lighthearted was nice. It was a quick read for me, and kind of hard to put down. I haven't read any of Kinsella's "Shopaholic" series yet, although I did read the audio version of "Can You Keep a Secret" and enjoyed that a lot. This one had a similar tone -- I don't know if all hers are like that, but I suspect that they are -- the Bridget Jones dingy young professional kind of character. At first it sounded a LOT like the other I read, but then it ran off on its own storyline and was very enjoyable. Somewhat predictable, but not totally. Overall, a good read! :')
I'll be dropping this in the mail to the next reader within the next day or two!
Received in the mail today - Thank you! I just finished the book I was currently reading today, so I can start this right away.
This was a fun, quick read. Sophie Kinsella is definately my favorite "chick lit" author. I've loved all of her books so far.
This book is ready to move on. mwade78 asked to be skipped, so I am attempting to contact wyldewomin.
Mailed to wyldewomin today - Enjoy!
Fear not. The goddess resurfaced from her side trip yesterday.

sending along to the next reader.
Funny cute story of self-discovery
I got this a couple of weeks ago, but got busy and put it in my TBR pile. Just started it last night and will post again when I am reading to send it on!
I read this book in just under four days, which is saying a lot since I have a year old and hardly get reading done in a timely manner. I really enjoyed this one and felt that it was much better that the last few Shopaholic books. Although the main character was unlikeable at first, I realized that that was purposeful after she met the Geigers mid-book.
I will be sending this on within the next few days!
Received today, thanks Dnsvm for mailing it and to PrettyPuddle for sharing this book ! It should be read and sent on soon.
After an iced cappucino too late in the evening, I was awake and wanting to do something, but at 3 it's not always easy as everyone's sleeping ! I reached for that book that I wanted to start today and 2 hours later I had read the last sentence. I haven't read like that for a long time and I didn't even know I could still do that ! This book reached close to home as I am a law student and I know that balancing work with your personnal life is not the easiest thing especially when you're a lawyer. This was a bit of a wake-up call to really pay attention to make sure that my life is still there because it's more important than most work.
I loved the Shopaholic and weirdly, I had to read the author on the spine as this didn't look like one of the series save for the perky writing style and the page-turning sensation I experimented. This is chick lit at its peak. Sadly, the ending was too soon for me and I thought at first, I had missed something, but now that I'm thinking about it. I love the fact that I can decide what exactly will happen.
Thanks PrettyPuddle for sharing, I'm waiting for em64's addy before mailing.
The book arrived yesterday. Looks quite interesting after the first 6 chapters...
Why does she always make the heroine so unlikable at first? I was so irritated with Samantha before she met the Geigers. Then it got much better. Though I find it a bit unbelievable that she learns all that domestic stuff so easily when you think that she couldn't do anything. Maybe she was a quick learner but I was not that impressed. And those people from the law firm were just from another planet. It was a good thing Nathaniel was such a sweet guy :-) All and all it was an enjoyable read, thanks for sharing LGinder and PrettyPoodle.
I already have Kiki66's address and will drop the book off to the post office tomorrow.
The Goddess has arrived in Germany.. hopefully it'll be a pleasant stay.. I'll do my best :-)
Well, I guess I am just not the chick lit type.. I seldom found a book of this genre I really liked;
I hated Samanthas's way of living in the beginning (hopefully I never ever become like that... thinking of it.. no, there's no chance I'll become like that :-)) ...it became better when she started her 'training' as a housekeeper.. so the book was - though predictable - nice to read..
I pm'd Hellie for her address...
Edit: Hellie wants to be skipped, so I asked FiBe...
The Goddess is on her way to Great Britain!
Have fun, FiBe!
Hmm I have to admit I didn't enjoy this as much as her previous books, however, it was still a good light read. I will now pm the next person on the list and get it sent off.
Thanks for letting me take part!

On its way to the next person! Thanks for letting me take part
Found this one in my mailbox this afternoon. It will go on the top of the pile and shouldn't take too long. You can keep track of its progress via my bookshelf.
Just finished it up and liked it just as well as all the other Kinsella novels I have read. Despite what others think, I really liked the ending. It suited the message in the book.
Thanks for sharing and sorry for keeping it so long. It should go in the mail as soon as I get an address.

Mailed off to faeriemyst who is next on the list. Happy reading!!
I received this today. Thanks so much for the bookray! I'll keep it moving after I finish it. :)
The Undomestic Goddess was a nice, fast, fun, and oftentimes funny read. I was hoping it wouldn't be an exact replica of the Shopaholic books with slight variations, and was pleased that Samantha had nothing in common with Becky except burying herself further by attempting to cover her tracks, and even then she was different. I have to disagree about Samantha, I didn't think she was unlikeable, but neither did I think she was likeable at first; I was rather ambivalent until Ms. Kinsella developed her more. The rest of the characters were great; Nathaniel was sweet, Iris was wonderful (the little bit she was in it anyway), and the Geigers odd and funny, especially towards the end.
While the book was overall predictable, I still found it a fresh and lively read. I only wish there could have been an epilogue, so we could have read a bit further into what happens next, but the ending was fitting so it all works out. :)
