Book Description
Welcome to the realm of very scary faeries!

Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms—a struggle that could very well mean her death.

My Review
When Kaye discovers she's actually a Changeling (changed at birth), her whole world starts to get really confusing, and some of the new friends she's met could possibly be her worst enemies.

I really enjoyed this book, which portrays the struggle between the Seelie and the Unseelie Court of Faerie. It is dark and suspenseful, and definitely doesn't refer to the light fairy which perches on flowers and flutters about. I'm anxiously looking forward to book 2, Valiant, which is also waiting here on Mt. TBR.

Caught at the Sticky Finger Life Swap at the Charleston BC Convention. (It was a lot of fun! My first live swap.) Sounds interesting so it is going to my Mt TBR, or as Pepper said, Mt Range TBR.
Thanks Cherie and nice meeting you in person! Cherie kept saying that she couldn't imagine me wanting this book but hey the sypnosis sounds like plenty of Japanese mangas I've read and enjoyed so why shouldn't I?

It wouldn't be right for me to rate this book. It's totally not the kind of book I go for. The storyline, characters and kind of writing don't appeal to me at all, so I couldn't finish it. It didn't exactly seem badly written, but it couldn't hold my attention at all. It's likely I would enjoy this story more if it were a manga. But for some reason faerie characters don't appeal that much to me in regular books. I love fantastic characters. But, faeries... Eh.

Looks like I forgot to journal when mneira returned this book to me a while back.

After reading it, I do agree with mneira that this book will work nicer as a manga. I don't dislike it as a book, it's well written, and I am curious about what will happen between Roiben and Kaye (though not so much what goes on between the Seelie and Unseelie court... that part is just over my head). I suppose the characters are a bit too "rough" for my liking, though I can see it makes the setting more real and contemporary for some readers.

This is now going to AM10000 for the round robin exchange. I am sure she will find it more her type of book.
