Garbage Land : On the Secret Trail of Trash

This is one women's research and commentary about how the effluent byproducts of modern life are handled.
I had expected a more one sided treatment but this book exposes the complexity of the subject. It really spares no one and yet is not content to create a lot of two-dimensional villains.
I found it very interesting.

Picked it up from WineDarkSea. Thanks again!

I completely missed the BC label when this first arrived. Whoops! It's on my TBR pile now - looking forward to it :)
This book is a fascinating look into a subject most people don't think about - what happens to trash after it's tossed in the bin? A New York City-based writer spends a year tracking her family's trash output, and sets herself a challenge to track every step of what happens to the trash after it leaves her house. It's an often frustrating experiment met with lots of secrecy and closed doors, but occasional insights and glimpses into the "trail of trash." I'd love to see an updated edition that evaluates what's changed, what's stayed the same, and the successes and failures of current municipal waste management.
