"Oliver North has lost a leg in the 1939 War and, more serious still, a shell splinter grazed his heart so that he is faced with many months of idleness and boredom, lying in a bed and waiting for it to heal.

After a dismal period in hopsital, he is allowed to go home to the farmhouse in Shropshire where his mother and sisters live. There, a bed is arranged for him in the bay window of a downstairs room, a nurse is engaged to look after him, and gradually, to his own surprise, he finds that his imprisonment is not boring at all."

This is a NSSFC gift for ... someone!

Thanks Jalna for sending yet another very interesting looking book as part of my NSSFC package. I've not ready Monica Dickens before but I know it is one of your favourite authors and it looks like something I will be wanting to get started on very soon.
