Solitude: A Return to the Self

Author's premise is that most of us have "overlooked the deep, sustaining power of solitude in human life." I agree. There is a huge difference between being alone & being lonely.
Storr examines both the link between solitude & the creative personality (Beethoven, Goya, Henry James, Beatrix Potter) and "the uses that ordinary people make of solitude in times of bereavement & depression, in escaping the pressures of daily life, in communing with a higher power through prayer and in finding & expressing their deepest selves."

I am currently reading. This is reserved for another bookcrosser.
It was all right. I found it a little boring.
Wow--I'd forgotten all about this one! Thank you froggiepopple for sending this! I think I owe you a book...please let me know what I can send. My shelf has improved considerably since I first started out.
Will read sometime after the Great Move in July, and will make sure it gets a new good foster home.
