The book 'Pelican Park' is a novel by Post columnist Frank Cerabino that was printed serially in the Accent section of the Palm Beach Post from March 6 through 27 of 2005. This is the book all put together.

From the front cover:
A tale of romance, lies and surging home prices.

From the back cover:
Romance! Real estate! Traffic calming!

Welcome to the soap-opera world of Pelican Park, a fictional West Palm Beach neighborhood. It's a gentrified sweath of suburbia stewing with intrigue, mystery and a Boca refugee named Pinky.

Kathryn 'Pinky' Mulligan Hope -- A chance encounter brings her to Pelican Park, whose unofficial motto is: 'Come for the speed humps, stay for the traffic circles.'

Cosmo 'The Lawn King' Hope -- Pinky's philandering husband -- while he was investigation 'irrigation problems,' his wife was filing for divorce.

Luna Hope -- Pinky's 11-year-old daugther. She wishes that naked man wasn't always turning up in their back yard.

Charlie Hope -- Pinky's 14-year-old son. He wishes he were back in Boca, playing in his middle-school rock band. The Savages.

This book was given to me as a birthday present by a fellow bookcrosser, but more importantly, a great friend, pashmack. Thank you pashmack. I, too, think I will enjoy reading it.

It smells of lavender because I put it in the gift bag of another gift I got that was lavender everything (thank you tiredngrumpy). This will want to make me read it even more .. and calm me at the same time. ;o)

Whoda thunk? I read the book in one day -- started this morning and finished it in the middle of the night. I enjoyed it. A lot. It was fun, it had mystery, bad guys, good guys, gay guys, an agoraphobic guy, an internet spy cam queen, and a prince of thieves guy. Not to mention interracial love and a toothless chihuaha.

It was cute and funny and touching. It was well written and tame enough for your average teenager (although not for a teenager whose parents think any of the above things mentioned are "bad").

Today, you can find the book online at: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/accent/content/pelicanpark/ . However, I have no idea how long they will keep it up. I get tired from reading things online so the book might well be worth the buy.

Thank you so much pashmack for thinking I would enjoy this book. I did and what I appreciate more is that you know me well enough to know that I would like the book even though it is not my usual "genre". Again, thank you.
