Many thanks for this and the goodies. I am an avid watcher of the TV series, but have avoided reading the books till recently. I am now catching up.

I was disappointed. It seemed to fizzle out half-way through, and Morse's personal life wasn't enough to carry the 'weakness' of the detective story. Still, it would translate to TV without a problem.
