Kelen's attention to detail make this book a remarkable look at life during the 19th century. The subject matter is compelling to modern readers because of our hunger for saucy scandal and indiscretions. If you like watching Sex in the City, then you will probably like this book. Kelen doesn't have the same carefree sense of humor that the characters of Sex in the City have, but she certainly knows what her readers are looking for. It also amazes me how these affairs play on the background of current events and accomplishments during their rein. Definitely an interesting read.
