Oh dear, I'm afraid I though this was awful. The characters were dislikable and needed a good kick up the backside and how many suicides?!!! Murakami seems to be a really "rated" author but this one has made me think I never need to read another book by him.

still reading! thought i'd make an entry now. caught in an oxfam bookshop in olney, buckinghamshire in summer 06...... love murakami, love the intensity of the characters so far.
took a while to get through it but enjoyed it very much. not his best but still more interesting and human than many!
