Dave and his father disagree on almost everything---including what kind of pet would be more educational. Dave's father thinks it's a dog so Dave gets a cat. And his name is Cat. With Cat, Dave meets many people and has great adventures---and it's very educational. As things change, Dave starts to understand his father a little better.
