One Hit Wonderland

This is a funny book, the third by Tony Hawks. Again it is about a stupid bet he makes with a friend. This time there is a cameo from Simon Cowell, you know, the plonker from American Idol. He doesn't manage to ruin a good story, though.
Picked up at tonight's meetup. I quite liked Playing the Moldovans at Tennis, so hopefully this one will be as good.

Everyone has a niche in life, and Tony Hawks's is making implausible bets that land him in unusual situations. This time, in a vain attempt to impress a woman he meets at a party, he bets that he can have another Top Twenty hit within two years. How exactly that leads him to visiting a war zone, flying to Holland in pixie boots, and convincing Sir Tim Rice to play a toy saxophone in the middle of an Albanian football stadium, you'll just have to read the book to find out.

Funny. I had some good laughs while reading this one. I think I will ask Cathietay to read it, then we will leave it somewhere in the South Island.

A good chuckle. Why oh why does he take these bets? I love the way his mates are the kings of the one hit wonders, and sure enough a hit is born on the mixing board.
