I am glad there are readers for every book? Not one of the best I have read, but someone else may like it a lot.

Instead of watching the dryers spin, get lost in a good book at the Laundromat beside Von's on Hardwick

Journal Entry 3 by Sparkledarkko from Long Beach, California USA on Friday, November 11, 2005
I'm pretty new to bookcrossing and I was very excited to go hunting for a book. I went to the laundromat near Vons on Hardwick with the anticipation of finding Dilbert, which was released 7 hours earlier.

When I arrived, there was no Dilbert. But there was an African American woman who had opened a supply closet. We made eye contact and she said "hello". I explained that someone had left a book for me (not expecting her to know about bookcrossing and not expecting her to say yes). She showed me two paperbacks from inside the supply closet and said that they were the only ones she had. Sure enough: both paperbacks had the bookcrossing label taped to the front!!

I said that those were the books and she replied that they could not be, because they were for "a book club". I explained to her what bookcrossing was about, how people log the books online and leave them to be found, and she became quite engaged with the concept.

"Do they have black books?" she asked. I asked her to elaborate and she gave Maya Angelou as an example. I said it was possible for her to get these and began to tell her how to access the site online. She said she did not have a computer, but excitedly shared that she also liked Stephen King.

I told her that I have both authors and home, and that I would bring them for her. She told me that she is at the laundromat every day.

This woman is an absolute jewel, a truly delightful soul. And a lover of books. I came away from my exchange with her elated, and feeling very much like I had found a way to bridge barriers and meet people. When you live in a large suburban, or even urban, sprawl--it becomes very easy to forget to really "see" people. To strike up a conversation with a total stranger. It was kismet.

Now for the book. Not my cup of tea. My fiancee read a few selections out loud as we drove home and I found it was not my taste.

I plan to re-release it in the hope that it reaches the hands and eyes of someone who can truly appreciate and enjoy it.
