Dear Reader: You don't hear too much about Tennyson these days--but he certainly does not deserve to be forgotten. He carried the English poetic tradition very well in the 19th Century when among other things, he was Queen Victoria's favorite poet. The strength of his work is indicated by the fact that so many of his lines are part of the English language. "Theirs was not to question why" from the *Charge of the Light Brigade* for instance. Returning to Tennyson is always rewarding. The lullabye "Sweet and Low" is one of my earliest memories and there are so many remarkable verses, sensual and emotionally authentic.
I released this in memory of my father Bill, who died a year ago this week. I mailed it today from St. Augustine, the USA's oldest city, to Tasmania, Australia.
Received book from Cordelia_Anne today, beautifully presented, a worthy tribute to an obviously dearly loved and treasured parent. Thank you so very much :)
I've loved dipping into this book for the past couple of years so now I am offering it to others in OzVBB rather than just letting it sit on the shelf.
