Wow! - This is one of a box of 9 yummy books that has just arrived in the mail from cestmoi, 3 of them from my wish list. Just as my bedside table was beginning to emerge from under a diminishing of "books to be read next" pile, I'm about to cover it up again....maybe I'll dust it first!
Thank you so much for this wonderful RABCK.

This was not a cosy mystery. It was very sad and very black in places. It is set between the 1890's and 1955. It starts with the obituary of Lady Louisa Kellaway, a cousin of 2 of the 3 narrators in the book. From there it jumps back to tell the tale of strange deaths happening over the time line of the book. The narrators, Georgina, her brother Edmund and servant Ada take it in turns to talk about their lives in the strictly defined class system at the beginning of the 20th century, their life styles and their relationships. The horrors of the fighting in the trenches in World War I is graphically described. Along with the story, the history makes it a different and interesting mystery read.
