Amazon.co.uk synopsis: Robert wants to be a star in the movies. Using his computer he has invented a system that could put the old stars back on the screen, alongside him. He has the script and the money, but Hollywood isn't keen. Could the perfect partnership lie with Ernest Fudgepacker of Fudgepacker's Emporium?

You know when you're reading a book and you think to yourself "Wow, I wish I could write like this"? This isn't one of those books. The constant nods and winks to the reader are presumably meant to be Milliganesque but just get tiresome. On the plus side, I enjoyed the darkly surreal Box 23 stories, which would have fit easily into a much better book, and the Nazi rhyming slang made me laugh out loud, although maybe it shouldn't have.
I like Robert Rankin when he's good but this definitely isn't one of his best.
Will send on to PepperVL next week.
