I definitely want to read this one before putting it on my classroom bookshelf. I love Goosebumps almost as much as some of my students do. It's funny how that part of my life I neglected reading so badly. Now I'm voracious but not as ravenous as many bookcrossers. Still this should be a good read.

Chapter One
Goosebumps all start out differently, but Stine is excellent at pulling the reader right in. Lizzy Morris narrates as she struggles to survive a car trip with her little brother (Luke) and his best friend (Clay) in the back seat of her parents' car as her dad loses his temper and her mother antagonizes him. They are lost when they suddenly stumble on...an enormous monster head?!

I liked this story more than Stine's Go Eat Worms! but not as much as Stine's Let's Get Invisible! Still, I wish Stine had been available when I was in school. He is fantastic! The basic plot is a little absurd, especially in the end when the author reveals the goal and identity of Horror'and's denizens. However Lizzie is established as the heroine and her ingenuity, creativity and sassy reaction to the final conflict is quite impressive. Of course, Stine also ends this book with a smirk, as he does all others. I understand why these books are so popular.
After a year in my classroom, this book has had very little activity. I'm setting it free now.
