This is one of the late British author Josephine Tey's Inspector Alan Grant mysteries, in which Inspector Grant meets a young man at a crowded literary cocktail party -- then is summoned to an art colony to search for his body. Whether the body actually exists, and who is responsible for his disappearance, is cleverly unraveled by the always-entertaining author.
First published in 1955, this novel is as fresh and interesting today, half a century later. Highly recommended.

Oops. Bad place for the book to be left... on a park bench when the Northeast is innundated with rain! So I've retrieved it and will place it somewhere a bit more accessible in view of the weather!
