One of the classics I've never read.
There have been plenty of "classics" and "must-read"s that I've picked up only to be bored to tears by it and put down with a couple of chapters. I am happy to say that this wasn't one of them. I fell in love with Cassie and her brothers. Great family. The story of a black family living in rural Mississippi during the 1940's. Captivating. Maybe I understand a little better now...maybe. Not all that long ago...during my grandparents time...and yet people were still so damn ignorant.
I've handed the book over to my son to be read.
