To quote Maggie Gee of the Sudnay Times: 'Mantel can out-write most writers of her generation, male and female. She has always produced beautiful sentrences, but this book is prodigal with them. What she has done here is disturbing, grievous and extraordinary'

Well, I thought this was a grand tale, so well written as to be 'heard' or even seen in images like that of London's moon "drowned in a muddy puddle in Chandos Street".
Perhaps like the Giant, Hilary Mantel goes a bit too far with her story; many things are happening to the characters in this novel. But then, that's like life, surely.
Thanks megami for passing this tale on...
