To me, this is a book of two halves.
The first half - Waris growing up in Somalia - was a moving and sometimes distressing tale of the reality of life as a Somalian nomad and it's hardships, with a graphic description of female genital mutilation.
The second half - Waris's flight to Europe and her rise to be a supermodel I had more problems with. Or more specifically, problems with Waris. I just plain didn't like her. Some of the traits she complained about in others (for example, people using her) she exhibited herself and seemed blind to it.
Overall, a mixed bag.

Stepping in as a substitute in a lost book ring!
My apologies for the very late JE...this book has arrived 3 weeks ago, but then I lost sight of it in my pre-Xmas chaos and found it only now, once all the decorations have found their place and the Xmas parcels have been mailed/handed on.
Thanks so much for giving your copy to continue my ray, and have a wonderful and peaceful Xmas!
The book will start travelling after the Xmas holidays.
