I really enjoyed this book. A quick, light read. That Stephanie Plum is something else.

Book synopsis:
Watch out, world. Here comes Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude. In Stephanie's opinion, toxic waste, rabid drivers, armed schizophrenics, and August heat, humidity, and hydrocarbons are all part of the great adventure of living in Jersey. She's a product of the "burg," a blue-collar pocket of Trenton where houses are attached and narrow, cars are American, windows are clean, and (God forbid you should be late) dinner is served at six. Now Stephanie's all grown up and out on her own, living five miles from Mom and Dad's, doing her best to sever the world's longest umbilical cord. Her mother is a meddler, and her grandmother is a few cans short of a case. Out of work and out of money, with her Miata repossessed and her refrigerator empty, Stephanie blackmails her bail bondsman cousin, Vinnie, into giving her a try as an apprehension agent. Stephanie knows zilch about the job requirements, but she figures her new pal, fearless bounty hunter Ranger, can teach her what it takes to catch a crook. Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. Morelli is also the irresistible macho pig who took Stephanie's virginity at age sixteen and then wrote the details on the bathroom wall of Mario's Sub Shop. There's still powerful chemistry between these two, so the chase should be interesting. It could also be extremely dangerous, especially when Stephanie encounters a heavyweight title contender who likes to play rough. Benito Ramirez is known for his brutality to women. At the very least, his obsession with Stephanie complicates her manhunt and brings terror and uncertainty into her life. At worst, it could lead to murder. Witty, fresh, and full of surprises, One for the Money is among the most eagerly awaited crime novels of the season.

Just received. More later.

I really enjoyed this book. It's about a twenty-something, single female looking for work and ends up being a "bounty hunter". Very funny with a good mystery plot.

Received from Saldragski in the mail today. Thanks! Adding to my TBR pile. Yes, keep me in mind for the follow up book!

Very funny first novel in the Stephanie Plum series. I couldn't help but like Stephanie - she's so out of her league and so clueless, and yet so tough and determined. In other words, I identified with her. Thanks to saldragski, I've got the next one in the series ready to read because I was dismayed that this one came to an end so quickly! I am going to offer this as a bookray to see if we can find any folks who haven't been converted to the Stephanie Plum fan club yet.

Got this in the mail today and can't wait to re-read it! Thanks for sharing this one 16stepper.
Oh, who's up next on the list?
Oh, who's up next on the list?

Okay, I've read this before so of course I love it! I signed up because I had been talking to a friend about these books and had forgotten that all these things had happened in the first book and not in the later books. So this was a little refresher for me. And a fun read, as always!

This arrived a couple of days ago - sorry I didn't journal before now. Anyway, I've heard a lot about this series, so I'm looking forward to reading it! I have a few other bookrings ahead of this, but I will read it as soon as I can.

Okay, so I picked this up last night as the next book on the pile with the intention of just reading a few pages to get it started. Some hours later, I finished it. I couldn't put it down! I loved that Stephanie was completely inexperienced. I loved Joe Morelli and hope he makes an appearance in later books. I will certainly look out for this series (either as a ring/ray or in the bookstore) so I can read the rest of the books!
Thanks very much to 16stepper for starting this ring - I had heard about this series but had never had the chance to read it...
I will PM the next person on the list and hope to mail it out within a few days.
UPDATE - mailed 5/31

I've never read a Stephanie Plum book so I thought I should start from the beginning :)
I had forgotten all about this and hope to read it within the next couple of days before going away.

OMG I'm so sorry for keeping this so long, it's been ready to go out for months but must have fallen behind my desk. It's in the post now. Sorry for the delay!

Received this in the mail yesterday. Looking forward to getting into it!
