Bought from a charity shop for next to nothing. Am keen to read the book and find out why so many people have been talking about it.

"As a pilot's wife in the New England mill town of her birth, Kathryn Lyons has learned to expect intense exhilaration, occasional boredom and long spells apart from her husband... but nothing prepares Kathryn for the late-night knock at the door informing her that he has died in a crash.

Even before the plane is located in waters off the coast of Ireland, the tragedy becomes the subject of a media feeding frenzy. Could there be any truth in the bizarre, disturbing rumours that Jack Lyons led a secret life? Struggling with her hrief, and fighting the urge to protect herself and her prococious daughter from the mystery surrounding the crash, Kathryn is determined to learn who her husband really was, whatever that knowledge may cost."

I expected a lot from this book, as a lot of people rate it very highly. I found some of the author's descriptions too lengthy, but quite enjoyed reading the book. I was left disappointed by the ending though, which ruined the book a bit for me. Thus, the book gets 5/10, whereas with a better ending, I might have given it a 7 or possibly 8.

I think I was expecting so much from this book. I've heard so many conflicting reviews of it and so had to read it for myself. I'm so glad I did though. I was a bit confused at first how the book went from present to past and back to present again............it took a couple of chapters to work it out.
It was fantastically written and the descriptive text made the scenarios really stand out, the sights, the smells and the people. The story of Kathryn, the pilot's wife, and her family, and the secret life that her husband had led, Kathryn discovers all this after her husband's death. A gripping story but I expected a lot more from the ending and did think that it could have been better.

I'm going to send this out as a RAY..................

INTERNATIONAL BOOKRAY

This book is about to begin its travels.
You should send the book to the person who appears after you in the list, so you need to PM them to get their address!

It's not a race, but please read and send the book on as speedily as you can, so that the other people in the ray can read it too. Usually 4 weeks is considered to be the amount of time that a book should be held by each individual.

Please journal the book once you have received it (so we all know where it currently is) and again when you have read it (so we know what you thought of it!) Please do not feel that you must read the book to the end, if you dislike it, then add your journal entry and send it to the next person in the ray. Release the book using Controlled Release (by post or by hand, next person in ring etc.......) or by submitting a Journal Entry.

If you're the last person on the list (i.e. we run out of members) the last person decides what to do next with the book!

I hope you all enjoy it, the order of the ray is as follows:

Bokwormy (Portugal, Europe)

Nojokeva (Virginia, USA)

AkashaFamily (New South Wales, Australia) - Last person on the ray - sending book as a trade! <---- JOURNEY COMPLETED, Hope to see it travel again soon.

This book was hard for me to put down. It is a very sad but compelling story and had some exciting twists and turns along the way. Yes, the author is totally descriptive but I didn't think overly so. I would like to read her other books.

I have emailed Akashafamily and waiting for a response.

2/27/07 sent this book Airmail to akashafamily on this date.
